LifeCare Expands Ambulance Service to Western Roseau County

ROSEAU, MN — LifeCare Medical Center has expanded its ambulance service to include an additional part of Roseau County. The expansion brings the western part of Roseau County, which was formerly covered by Tri-County EMS, into the LifeCare primary service area.
The move, which took effect February 1, 2014, comes as the result of an agreement made between Tri-County EMS and LifeCare Medical Center, with the final approval coming from Minnesota State Emergency Medical Services Regulatory Board.
“We have had the pleasure of working with all the regional EMS providers,” says LifeCare President/CEO Keith Okeson. “Our rural communities are very fortunate to have the dedication of these ambulance services and staff,” says Okeson. “We are happy to expand our service, and plan to continue to provide excellent care to residents of Roseau County and the surrounding area.”
Many of the emergency medical technicians (EMT’s) that previously served western Roseau County, through Tri-County EMS, will continue to work in the Greenbush area.  “We have added some excellent EMT’s from that squad to our staff,” says Curt Ireland, Director of LifeCare Roseau EMS. “One big benefit is that we will now be able to pull staff from a larger pool of employees to cover our service areas.”
According to Ireland, the state statute requires two LifeCare EMT’s to be on-call from a location in Greenbush 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  Two LifeCare ambulances will also be on site for the western side of the county. One ambulance is currently located in Greenbush and a second, new ambulance has been purchased by LifeCare, and will soon be available in the Greenbush area.
“We will be able to provide great coverage of the new service area by having two ambulances located in Greenbush,” Ireland says. “Our staff is trained, scheduled and ready to provide emergency services!”
The primary service area of LifeCare Roseau EMS now consisted of over 3,000 square miles including western and central Roseau County, the Northwest Angle, a portion of Beltrami County and southern Manitoba.
