Helen Berg

Helen P. Berg, 93, of East Grand Forks, passed away peacefully at Edgewood Vista in East Grand Forks, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.
Helen was born in Humboldt, MN on January 26, 1915, the daughter of William and Antony (Meir) Phalen. As an infant they moved to Crookston, MN. There she met Haibert Berg.
They were married March 29, 1936 in Crookston, MN, where they made their home. Helen worked for Sekulla’s Café, the Villa Nursing Home, and Dahlgren’s Feed and Seed. She also was a volunteer in the Grandparent Program for sixteen years both in Crookston and Grand Forks, ND until retiring in 2004.
Helen enjoyed cooking and baking goodies for her family. She will be greatly and lovingly missed.
Loving family members of Helen are her daughter, Bonnie Brandner of Grand Forks, ND, granddaughters, Debbie (Darwin) Kvislen of Grand Forks, ND, Pam (Truman) Vigen Jr. of East Grand Forks, great-granddaughters Katie and Kelsie Kvislen and Haley Vigen and one great-great-grandson, Landen Vigen, one sister, Katherine (Bud) Peterson of Hibbing, MN, one sister-in-law, Mildred Phalen of Crookston, MN and several nieces and nephews.
Helen is preceded in death by her husband Haibert Berg, brother James Phalen, and son-in-law, Austin Brandner.
Funeral Service: 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 30th, 2008 in Holy Family Catholic Church, 1018 18th Ave. S. Grand Forks.
Interment: Oakdale Cemetery, Crookston, MN
