Don Johnson
Don Johnson, 63, of East Grand Forks, MN passed away on Saturday, August 16, 2008 at the Altru Hospital from injuries sustained in a Scooter / Automobile Accident.Donald Melvin Johnson was born on January 25, 1945 in Bismarck, ND, the son of Henry and Edna (Goebel) Johnson. He grew up and attended school in Lehr, ND. Following his graduation from High School, he attended the University of North Dakota and earned his BSED Degree in Music Education, graduating in 1968. On July 30, 1967 Don was united in marriage to Marlys Walz in Pettibone, ND. In July of 1968 Don joined the United States Air Force and was stationed in Okinawa, Rapid City, SD, Germany, Belgium and then retiring in July of 1988 from the Grand Forks Air Force Base. In 1975 he attended South Dakota State University, earning a MED, Education Administration. In October of 1988 Don worked at the Cooperative Education Office at the University of North Dakota and was employed there until the time of his death. Don was the Choir Director and also served as Chairman of the Board of Elders at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Grand Forks, ND.
Family members who survive Don include his wife, Marlys of East Grand Forks, MN, 2 daughters: Michelle (Michael) Jerome of Mobridge, SD, Kristen (Joe) Prusak of Grand Forks, ND; 6 grandchildren: Trevor, Tanner, Kailey, and Gabe Jerome, and Shawn and Ryan Prusak; his mother, Edna Johnson of Horace, ND; 1 niece, Heather Larson of Fargo, ND; 1 nephew, Zachary Echola of Fargo, ND and father and mother-in-law, Rudolph and Katherine Walz of Jamestown, ND.
Preceding Don in death are his father, Henry Johnson, and one sister, Noreen Echola.
Memorials are requested to the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Grand Forks, ND.

Visitation: 5:00 to 7:00 with a 6:30 PM Prayer Service on Wednesday, August 20th, 2008 in Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1710 Cherry St. Grand Forks, ND and 1 hour prior Funeral on Thursday
