Clara Rutherford
Clara Rutherford, 86, of East Grand Forks, died Sunday, August 31, 2008 at Valley Eldercare Center, Grand Forks, ND.Clara Agnes Omlid was born on January 26, 1922, in Roseau, MN, the daughter of Charles and Annie (Olson) Omlid. Clara moved with her family to Fisher, MN where she attended and graduated from Fisher High School. Following her graduation she attended Normal Teachers Training in Grand Forks, ND and taught school in rural Fosston, MN.
On August 12, 1944, Clara married Ronald Rutherford at Mendenhall Presbyterian Church in East Grand Forks, MN.
They farmed near Fisher, MN, retiring in 1985. In 1993, they moved to East Grand Forks. Clara was an active member of Mendenhall Presbyterian Church and the Fisher American Legion Auxiliary.
She is survived by three daughters: Marilyn (Doug) Olson of Rothschild, WI, Joanne Rutherford of East Grand Forks, and Susan (Dave) Brokke of Granite Falls, MN; seven grandchildren: Jeff Olson, Chad Olson, David Olson, Marc Olson, Jennifer (Brokke) Lecy, Steve Brokke and Jill Brokke, and six great grandchildren: Autumn Olson, Zach Olson, Ellie Olson, Charlie Olson, Tayte Lecy and Claire Lecy; sister Gladyce Hendrickson of Grand Forks, ND and brother, Kenneth (Shirley) Omlid of Crookston, MN.
Clara is preceded in death by her husband Ronald on May 13, 2004; her parents; brothers Olaf and Halvor Omlid and sisters Thelma Anderson, Julia Nelson and Bea Kirk.
Funeral Service: 10:00 a.m., Thursday, September 4, 2008 at Mendenhall Presbyterian Church, 528 10th St. NW, East Grand Forks.
Visitation: 5-7 p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer service on Wednesday, September 3, 2008, at Mendenhall Presbyterian Church, East Grand Forks.
Burial: Nisbet Cemetery, rural East Grand Forks.
