David Ritchie

David Ritchie, 93, of Grand Forks, ND passed away on Tuesday, August 26, 2008 at the Valley Eldercare Center in Grand Forks.
David Ian Ritchie was born on November 1, 1914 at Claremont, IA the son of Jay L. and Arminda (Eastman) Ritchie. David was raised, educated and grew up in the Montfort, WI area.
David owned and operated a beauty salon in Madison, WI before World War II, when he joined the United States Marine Corps along with his brother William Ritchie. He served in the South Pacific until 1945 at the duration of the War.
He married Frances Berg on August 8, 1949 in Crookston, MN. He worked at Kieckhaefer Mercury Corp and retired from there in 1977. In 1977 the family moved to Grand Forks, where he drove School Bus for Holy Family School.
David is survived by his wife Franny of 59 years, one daughter: Leilani of Grand Forks; two sons: David S. (Leslie) Ritchie of Hasting, MN and William L. (Susan) Ritchie of Grand Forks; five grandchildren: Daniel, Claire, Mackenzie, Faith and Autumn; one brother: Charles of Sauk City, WI, and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding David in death are his parents, Jay and Arminda Ritchie, a brother, William A., in February of 1945, a daughter, Christine J. in March of 1951 and a sister-in-law, Shirley Ritchie.
Memorial Services were held on Friday, August 29, 2008 in Valley Christian Center, Grand Forks.
