The East Grand Forks PeeWee Blue Line hockey team is still practicing; and they are liking it. The team qualified for the state tournament last weekend by finishing first at the Minnesota Western Regional held in Brainerd. So instead of playing pickup games to wind down the season, the boys are practicing for state, which starts this weekend in Willmar. This is quite an accomplishment for this group, which is the first Pee Wee A team to make it to state since 1999. East Grand Forks has only sent 5 Pee Wee A teams to state in the last 30 years. A huge congratulations goes out to this great group of kids.
The team has a 31-13 record and has won 15 of their last 16 games. This shows how much they have been improving throughout the season.
The team will head for Willmar on Thursday to attend a banquet with the seven other qualifying teams and their families.
The scheduled speaker is Bob Motzko, the head coach from St Cloud State.
The team’s first game will be against Edina at 1 PM on Friday. Thanks to the Blue Line Club and all the other supporters for making this such a fun and successful season.
Team members are Nathan Peltier, Nate Phillips, Jordan Veznia, Eddie Eades, Dixon Bowen, Rayce Martin, Kolton Aubol, Gage Ausmus, Nick Korynta, Cale Mack, Nick Ranten, Colton Poolman, Tommy Hajicek, Cole Carlson, Grant Boyum and Tanner Lindstrom. Coaches are Matt Fore, Jason Hearn and Nick Bowen.
