EGF 12-yr old All Stars National Division Champions
The East Grand Forks 12-yr old All Stars celebrated their National Division Championship recently. The East Grand Forks twelve year old all stars started their tournament season this past weekend in Grand Forks.
EGF opened the tournament with an 11 to 3 victory over Thompson. East Grand Forks offensively had 10 hits and five of them were for extra bases, including two home runs. Defensively, EGF pitchers allowed only three hits while striking out 14.
EGF played a very solid Grand Forks Cubs team in the second game on Friday and lost 3-2 in extra innings.
On Saturday, the team bounced back with victories over Warroad (16-0), Grand Forks Reds (11-1) and Stephen/Argyle (8-0). Pitching was the key in these victories. East Grand Forks pitchers allowed only one hit in each of these games.
The three victories on Saturday secured the team’s National Division Championship. Itts Williams Park will be the site of the team’s next action as they host their own tournament this Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
