EGF Sports Boosters hold annual golf tournament
On July 17, 2008 the East Grand Forks Sports Boosters held their ninth Annual golf tournament at Valley Golf Course.The golf tournament featured 36 four-person teams competing in a four person best ball tournament. The weather was great and fun was had by all who participated.
The tournament also had Lithia Chrysler and the Chrysler Corporation sponsoring a Drive for the Chrysler Hole in One event where a Hole in One would win you a brand new Chrysler. You could also test drive one of the three different Chrysler vehicles and you would receive a sleeve of balls and the Boosters would receive $5.00 for each test drive. We were lucky enough to get 158 drivers who test drove the vehicles.
A tournament like this doesn’t run itself, so I would like to thank my Co-chairs Karen Thorfinnson, Tom Piche and all the individuals on the golf committee, the volunteers who helped Chrysler with the Drive-a-thon, the cooks, and all the other individuals who helped work the tournament. I would also like to thank Scott Eggers from Valley Golf and their terrific staff that made the golf tournament go off without a hitch.
The Sports Boosters Golf Tournament has turned out to be a great fund raiser for the Sports Boosters and the main reason for this is the great support we get from individuals and businesses in the area. The support we get makes it much easier to raise money which goes to supporting our student athletes and the sport or activities they participate in.
