Frank Joseph Kiss, 92, of Warroad, Minnesota, formerly of Williams, died June 6, 2007.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, June 13, 2007, from St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Williams with a visitation one hour prior to the funeral mass in the church. Interment is in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery, Williams.
Frank Joseph Kiss was born October 27, 1914, to Joseph and Barbara Kiss in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. He was baptized on November 24, 1914, at the Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Winnipeg.
At a young age, Frank began working for the railroad. He married Katie Zamrykut on January 22, 1941, in Rorketon, Manitoba, Canada. They had five daughters while living in Canada. In 1955, Frank transferred with the Canadian Railroad to Graceton, Minnesota. The family lived at Graceton until 1961 when they moved into Williams. After his retirement, Frank and Katie did a lot of traveling throughout the United States, some via the railroad and also by automobile. Frank moved to Warroad in 2000 and resided at Young Manor Apartments until his death.
Frank was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Williams, and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was an avid vegetable gardener who also raised many flowers and fruit trees. Among the hobbies that Frank enjoyed was walking through the woods picking wild mushrooms and blueberries. Frank also donated much of the railroad memorabilia in the Warroad Museum.
Survivors include three daughters: Olga (Robert) Cole of Bemidji, Rosie Post (Paul Resburg) of Spokane, Washington, and Stella (Ted) Matelski of Williams; 11 grandchildren; and, 17 great grandchildren.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents; his spouse, Katie; two daughters: Beatrice and Elsie; two brothers; and, one sister.
