Dale Carlson

Dale C. Carlson, 75, of Williams died March 25, 2007, at LakeWood Health Center in Baudette.
Accompanied by family and friends, Dale took one last hayride to his final resting place, Pine Hill Cemetery in Williams, following 2 p.m. funeral services from Bethany Lutheran Church in Williams on Saturday, March 31, 2007. Special musical at the service was by neighbor and friend, Walter Storey. Dale’s seven children, Dana, David, Delores, Betsy, Calvin, Celeste, and Alan, carried the casket to the waiting hay wagon.
Dale Carl Carlson, the son of Lydia (Knutson) and Ernest S. Carlson, was born October 4, 1931, in Potamo Township of Lake of the Woods County, Minnesota. He grew up and attended school in Williams. After high school, Dale worked as a DHIA milk tester for a time. He did some cattle genetics work for ABS for a few years and he logged for several winters. Dale farmed with his father, Ernest, and his brother, LeRoy, eventually taking over their farms when they retired. Dale owned and operated a Grade A dairy for more than 40 years and grew foundation seed potatoes as well as small grain. On September 21, 1953, Dale was united in marriage to Beverly Knight.
Dale loved farming, deer hunting, fishing, reading, playing cards, and, most especially, visiting with friends or talking on the phone. Dale received many awards in the agricultural industry, and he and Bev represented Lake of the Woods County at the Red River Valley Winter Shows in several different capacities. He was a past member of the Williams School Board, of Bethany Lutheran Church Council, the County ASCS committee, and served on the Northern Farmers Cooperative Exchange Elevator board of directors.
Survivors include his wife of more than 50 years, Beverly, of Williams; his children: Dana (Deborah) Carlson of Williams, David (Jayne) Carlson of Rochester, New York, Delores (Robert) Campbell of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, Elizabeth Betsy Jo (Greg) Brown of Williams, Calvin (Lois Lystad) Carlson of Baudette, Celeste Carlson of Warroad, and Alan (Julie) Carlson of Waco, Texas; seven grandchildren: Brittany (Martin), Courtnay, Cody, Retina, Katie, Lindsey, and Derby; special grandkids, Rick and Adrian; one sister, Aldyne Robinson of Worthington, and several other relatives.
Preceding Dale in death in addition to his parents were his brother, E. LeRoy; an infant brother, Ernest; two sisters-in-law, Betty and Gladys; and one niece, Jeannie.
