Denver Allen Demary was born August 17, 1949, in Baudette, Minnesota, to Walter and Charlotte (Baldwin) Demary. Denver, who was raised in Baudette and has been a lifelong resident, attended school in Baudette and enlisted in the United States Navy as a young man. Following his service to his country he returned to Baudette and then went to Thief River Falls Technical School to pursue a career in welding.
Upon his return to the Baudette area, Denver was united in marriage to Sandra Butler at his grandmother’s home at Williams during the summer of 1977. Denver was employed at several different places during his career including working for his brother Dennis, driving truck, and working on the railroad for a few years. He was employed as a welder for Dahl Stoves for many years and had currently been employed at Erickson Timber.
He enjoyed playing softball, camping, canoeing and hunting with friends and family. His family was his passion, especially his grandchildren. He traveled 700 miles, driving all night to be there for the births of his grandchildren. He loved spending time with his grandchildren - holding them, playing with them, fixing their bikes and sitting with them at Grandma Charlotte’s window looking down main street. Denver always looked forward to the annual Rapid River canoe trip with his friends. He was an adventurous person who loved to travel and in his younger years he traveled by hitchhiking. He traversed the west coast by hiking and catching an occasional lift from a willing motorist.
Denver was known for his contagious laugh and his willingness to help anyone who needed a helping hand. He took great care of his mother, whether it was fixing something around the house, tilling the garden, or driving her some place. He was a great son, father, grandfather and friend. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Preceding Denver in death was his father, Walter, and his grandparents.
