City wants veterans in Moose Fest parade
Dan NordineMoose Fest organizers in Karlstad are looking to honor all area veterans this year and would like veterans of any era to participate in the annual Moose Fest parade.
Any vets who would like to take part in the parade are asked to call Wayne or Sue at the Karlstad City Clerk’s Office (436-2178).
City Clerk Wayne Ruud said they need to know just how many veterans intend to be in the parade so they can get a handle on the number of vehicles they will need.
“If they intend to ride on their own float or vehicle, that’s fine too,” Ruud said. “We just need to know in advance so we can make floats or vehicles available.”
There still may be a few vets around who are able to get into their old military uniforms, but uniforms are not a requirement.
“We want to make sure that everyone knows this is for all veterans, “Ruud explained, with heavy emphasis on the “all”. “It’s not just for recent Gulf War vets, but vets from all the conflicts. I don’t think there any any World War I vets left, but its for those from World War II, Korea, Vietnam, any of the generations who served in the military.”
