Mary Webster

Mary Webster, 94, of Hallock, MN passed away at her home on Thursday evening, August 14, 2008. Mary Karas was born April 15, 1914 on a farm near Lankin, ND to John and Mary (Pich) Karas. She attended country school in Pirth Township. On October
18, 1949 she married Peter Webster in St. Vincent, MN. They lived briefly in Hallock before making their home on a farm in Svea Township southwest of Kennedy. Peter died on February 18, 1986. Mary was a member of Maria Lutheran Church in Kennedy. In the summer Mary enjoyed gardening and canning. She supplied friends
and family with fresh vegetables. In the winter she enjoyed knitting and sewing, especially quilting with the Maria Lutheran Church ladies. Her mother taught Old Country cooking. She excelled in Bohemian dishes, and still baked on a regular basis.
Mary is survived by a son: John (Nancy) Webster, Kennedy; a daughter: Joyce (Allen) Peterson, Yamhill, OR; granddaughters: Jill (Daryl) Stewman and Jessica (Lynn) Dammon; grandsons: Richard Swenson, Levi Webster, Steven Webster, and Ryan Peterson; a sister: Sr. Margaret Mary Karas, St. Paul, MN; a brother: John (Alice) Karas, Lankin, ND; sisters-in-law, Caroline Karas, Park River, ND and
Henrietta Karas, Lankin, ND. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a daughter: Mary Freeman; an infant son, Peter; a grandson: Bobby Swenson; and brothers: Joseph and Edward.
Funeral services were Tuesday, August 19, at 10:00
a.m. in Maria Lutheran Church. Kathy Levenhagen, lay minister, presiding; Karen Vold and Jillayne Kraska, duet, Patti Swanson,
organist. Casket bearers were Levi Webster, Steven Webster, Ryan Peterson, Daniel Lundberg, Chris Swenson and Lonnie Thompson. Interment was in
Greenwood Cemetery at Hallock.
Austin-Hughes Funeral Home of Hallock was in charge of arrangements.
