Nora Nicholson

Nora Nicholson, 105, of Lancaster, MN passed away at the Kittson Memorial Healthcare Center in Hallock, MN on Friday, August 15, 2008.
Nora Weberg was born May 27, 1903 in Richardville
Township of Kittson County, MN to Olaf and Emma (Hoglin) Weberg. She attended the Northstar School for the first eight years and was in one of the first graduating classes at Lancaster High School in 1921. Nora went on to attend teachers college in Warren for one year and in Moorhead for another year to obtain her teaching certificate. She began teaching in country schools at the age of 19 and retired from the Lancaster School at the age of 67. Nora taught the fifth grade and continued to substitute teach until she was 76. On July 3, 1926 she married William Roy Nicholson at Lancaster. They settled on a farm in Richardville Township and moved into Lancaster when Roy retired. Roy passed away on September 22, 1973. She was a member of Sion Lutheran Church and former member of Sikar Church before it closed. Nora loved to travel and managed to see all 50 states, Mexico, Canada, made passage through the Panama Canal and toured many countries in Europe. She entered the Kittson Memorial Healthcare Center on January 31, 1997.
Family members include two sons: Ray Nicholson, Navajo Dam, NM and Richard (Maureen) Nicholson, Lancaster; grandchildren: Scott Nicholson, Randy (Amy) Nicholson, Colleen (Tim) Toebe, Crystal (Greg) Peterson and Lucinda (Mike) Hanson; 10 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren; as well as nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; a grandson: Rick Nicholson; a daughter-in-law: Carol Ann Nicholson; four brothers: Leonard, Edgar, Alvin and Harold; and sisters: Esther, Olga and Helen.
Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, August 22, at 2:00 p.m. in Sion Lutheran Church at Lancaster, Pastor Melodi Hagen, presiding. Casket bearers will be Michael Peterson, Shane Peterson, Tim Peterson, Tanner Wightman, Steven Weberg and Randy Nicholson. Visitation will be at the Austin-Hughes Funeral Chapel on Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00. p.m. Interment will be in Riverview Memorial Garden Cemetery, Lancaster.
