Scott Maslowski
Scott Maslowski, 56, of Thief River Falls, died Tuesday, September 2, 2008 at Thief River Care Center, in TRF.Scott Alan Maslowski was born on December 3, 1951 in Cloquet, MN to Bernard and Helen (Olson) Maslowski. He grew up in Cloquet, and attended school there. He entered the US Army on May 27, 1971 and was stationed in Korea as an MP. He was Honorably Discharged on May 21, 1973. He met his future wife while stationed in Korea. He returned to the states and started the police academy in Alexandria, MN. Scott was united in marriage to Pok Sun “Soon” Han on February 4, 1974 in Cloquet, MN. They made their home in Alexandria, while Scott was going to college. In 1976, they moved to Middle River in Marshall County for three years. He worked as a deputy sheriff in Marshall County before settling in Thief River Falls in 1979. Scott worked on the Thief River Falls Police Department from 1979 until 1998. He retired early due to Parkinson’s disease. Scott enjoyed working in law enforcement. He liked to keep busy and often had side jobs around town. He was a
big prankster who loved a good joke. Playing cribbage was a favorite pastime. He played softball for many years. He loved spoiling children and was the uncle who always bought the “coolest presents.” After retiring, Scott was often seen driving his golf cart around town. He loved his dogs and all animals. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to fish and hunt. Duck hunting had always gotten him excited as he loved to tell stories of lost lures, tangled lines, and the big one that got away!
Scott is survived by daughter: LuAnne (Wayne) Stang, Wahoo, NE; son: Shawn (Missy) Maslowski, Thief River Falls; three grandchildren: Darian and Deena Stang, and Jace Maslowski; two sisters: Barb (Ken) Souminen, Cloquet, MN, Sue (Joe) Ulsby, Esko, MN; four brothers: Jack (Mary) Maslowski, Esko, MN, Jim (Jan) Maslowski, Cloquet, MN, Mick (Rita) Maslowski, Gladstone, MI, Gerry (Nancy) Maslowski, Esko.
He was preceded in death by his wife: Pok Sun “Soon” Maslowski on April 3, 2008, and his parents.

Funeral service was at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 6, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, TRF, with Rev. Mark Helgeland officiating. Special music: Greg Dally and Paula Adamson; Pallbearers: Jack Maslowski, Jim Maslowski, Mick Maslowski, Steve Weber, Ken Souminen, Dave Schneider; Honorary pallbearers: Arden Thomas, Scott Peters, Mitch Borneman, Wayne Nomeland and his fellow law enforcement friends: Bagpiper: Processional and Recessional and at the cemetery “Amazing Grace.” Military honors: Thief River Falls American Legion and VFW Posts. Burial followed in the Greenwood Cemetery, TRF.
