Joyce (Storeby) Woodard

Joyce Woodard, 87, of Hallock, MN passed away at her home on Sunday morning, September 7, 2008. Joyce Elvera Meyer was born at Humboldt, MN on October 24, 1920 to Daniel and Pearl (Anderson) Meyer. She grew up at Humboldt and graduated from high school there in 1938. Joyce married Woodrow Woodard February 8, 1941 at Humboldt. The couple moved to Minneapolis in 1942 and returned to Hallock in 1948. Joyce worked on area farms picking potatoes and driving combine. She also worked at the Sterling Store, Margie’s Cafe and did preparation work and sold dinner tickets for the Friday
night fish fry at the Hallock Eagles Club for more than 20 years. Joyce was a member of Grace Lutheran Church. Woodrow died on November 9, 2004.
Family members include two sons: Daniel (Brenda) Woodard, Hallock, Thomas (Beth) Woodard, Mayville, ND; a daughter: Peggy (Bill) Farmer, St. Croix Falls, WI; a daughter-in-law, Diana Woodard, Fargo; nine grandchildren: Lori (Randy) Masloski, Lancaster, Daniel (Sara) Woodard, Hallock, Marit (Tom) Brock, St. Paul, Charlie (Amy) Opstad, Stillwater Brady (Melissa) Woodard, West Fargo, ND,
Bjorn Woodard, Fargo, Brianna Woodard, Fargo, Haley Woodard, Fargo and Jayne Woodard, Mayville; 11 great grandchildren: Jessica, Janessa, Garett, Grant and Jared Masloski, Flynn and Maggie Opstad, Leo and Anna Brock, Brooklyn Woodard and Amanda.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a son: Timothy; grandsons: Billy, Brock and Philip; and sisters: Doris, Eunice, Ruth and Marlene.
Funeral services were Friday, September 12, at 11:00 a.m. in Grace Lutheran Church at Hallock, Rev. Phil Tobin, presiding; Karen Vold, soloist and Karissa Dennis, organist. Casket bearers were Bjorn Woodard, Brady Woodard, Tom Brock, Charlie Opstad, Randy Masloski and Dan Woodard Jr. Honorary casket bearers were Christy Anderson, Joyce Nowacki, Lee Pearson, Shirley Pearson, Tracy Panzer and Peggy Pearson. Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery, Hallock.
Austin-Hughes Funeral Home of Hallock was in charge of arrangements.
