Ashlee Nelson headed for MN State Golf Tourney
Sub-Section 8A North Medalist Ashlee Nelson took third place in individual scoring at the Sections played at Bemidji last week.Medalist on the Girls’ side of the tourney was Amy Mireault of Fosston who shot an 88, and runner-up Ann Aitken of Cass Lake Bena shot a 94.
Nelson, who consistently scored medalist honors at meets she played in the North Sub-section, shot 97, good enough to earn her a trip to the State Tournament in Becker this week.
Other girls advancing on individual scores were Kelsha Sollie of Fosston with 98, Vanessa Burkel and Allison Waage, both of BGMR, and both with scores of 101, and Canda McGregor of Warroad/Alvarado/Oslo with a 106.
On the team side of the competition, Fosston took top honors with 396 while BGMR turned in a runner-up effort with 418. 8A North Champs, Kittson County Central had a team score of 477 and Fertile-Beltrami scored 504.
In the Boys’ column, Fosston took first in team standing with 338 followed by runner-up Lake of the Woods, also with 338. Stephen-Argyle had 355 and Fertile-Beltrami scored 371.
