Nostalgia ran deep at Moose Fest Car Show

dave Thonpson of Thief River Falls, and his 1957 Chev Belaire took home the People’s Choice Trophy at the Moose Fest Car Show on Saturday.
There were nearly 90 cars on display at the Moose Fest car Show held in Moose Park last Saturday, and entries provided a visual display of color and chrome.
cars were judged in a variety of categories including a people’s Choice Award which was determined by a popular vote of those visiting the show. That award went to Dave Thompson of Thief River Falls, MN with his 1957 Chevrolet Belaire.
Mattracks also offered a special trophy and selected a 1954 Chevy Belaire owned by Tage Johnson of Hallock.
Other categories included Pre-’57 with dave Thompson of Thief River falls taking first place with his 1956 Chevy Belaire; second place was George Petrowski of Roseau with a 1955 Ford Victoria; and third went to Tage Johnson with is ‘52 Chevy Belaire.
In the truck class it was Dale Foss of Greenbush taking first with a beautiful 1938 Ford pickup; second was Garret Scholin of Thief River Fall and his 1953 Ford; and third was Ardell Larson of Lake Bronson with a 1957 Chevy Pickup.
Roger Solberg of Thief River Falls took first place in the ‘57-64 class with a Chevy Wagon; Mike Huerd of Warroad captured second place in a Chevy Convertible which also won a trophy in the convertible class; Third place went to Jerry Huerd of Warroad with a Chevy Belaire.
In the ‘65-72 category Marlin Nelson of Roseau’s Ford Mustang took first; Jerry Love of warroad was second with a Chevy Impala; and Mike Franks of warren took third with a Dodge Coronet.
‘72 to Present it was Rick Battles of warroad taking first with a Chevy Nova; Todd Gozdal of Drayton was second with a Dodge Challenger; and third was John & LeeAnn Harwarth of Thief River Falls and a Chevy Camero.
In the ‘64-72 Muscle car Class Dan Ostlund or Warroad took first place with a Plymouth GTX; Jason Miler of Thief River Falls was second with a GMC AMX; and Darren Philipp had third with a Plymouth GTX.
Lowell Anderson of Roosevelt received a trophy in the Sport Compact Class with an ‘86 Pontiac Fiero GT.
The Trophy for the farthest travelled went to Glen Simpson of Winnipeg, MB. Along with the trophy, Simpson received $50 cash from the Black Bear Grill to pay gas expenses.
Other sponsors for the event included H. E. Everson Co., Hardware Hank, State Farm Insurance, Al Lundeen, Wyman Hjelle, Johnson Paint & Repair, and North Star Auto Sales.
