GACF announces Grant Awards and 2008 recipients

The Greenbush Area Community Fund (GACF) is announcing grant awards and recipients for 2008. GACF earned dividends on its donors’ endowment contributions that allowed for distribution of three grants, totaling $850.
A grant in the amount of $400 was given to the Greenbush-Middle River School to support the construction of dugouts on the softball fields behind the school. The dugouts will provide increased protection for summer athletes.
An additional $200 was awarded to the Greenbush Rescue Squad for their annual Safety Town Project. Safety Town is an accident prevention program directed towards preschool age children, held each spring in Greenbush.
And a $250 grant was awarded to the Greenbush Community Education Program for their Mixed Blood Theatre event to be held January 2009. The event provides an opportunity for the area’s students and community to expand their cultural awareness through theatre.
GACF was established to provide financial support for charitable, educational and public activities, projects, or services that enhance or otherwise improve the quality of life enjoyed by residents and visitors of the Greenbush Area. The Fund is a catalyst in stimulating projects that improve the quality of life in the community and help achieve the Greenbush area’s vision for its future. GACF is a component fund of the Northwest Minnesota Foundation, a nonprofit organization, all gifts are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law.
If you are interested in contributing to the Greenbush Area Community Fund, either financially or by volunteering your time, please contact one of the following advisory committee members: Caroline Eeg, Marcia Folland, Bob Hager, Brenda Sather, Mary Stauffenecker or Sander Tureson.
