Three young ladies know what life is all about living on a dairy farm, and because of their background, they have been chosen as the 2008 Dairy Princesses of Roseau/Kittson Counties.
Named Senior Dairy Princess is Naomi Krahn of Warroad, Minnesota. The daughter of Arthur and Camille, the Krahn farm averages 33 dairy cattle, besides having beef cattle and raising crops of hay and grain. Naomi helps with everything on the farm. Her favorite dairy products are milk, ice cream and cheese. She is taking teaching courses through correspondence.
Monica Green, the daughter of Doug and Corena Green, also holds the title of Senior Dairy Princess. The Green farm consists of 54 dairy cows and grain crops. Monica helps with the milking chores on weekends. Milk is her favorite dairy product. She has completed her first year in nursing at Northland Community and Technical College at Thief River Falls, Minnesota.
Holding the title of Junior Dairy Princess is Kayla Kirkeide. Kayla is the daughter of Barry and Roxane. Fifty-five cows make up the Kirkeide’s dairy herd. Kayla helps after school and on weekends with feeding calves. Ice cream is her favorite. A senior at GMR this fall, Kayla future plans are to become a dental assistant and dental hygienist and intends to attend Bemidji State University.
