Lillian Evans
Lillian Harriet Evans, 94 of Roseau, MN died, Sunday March 9, 2008 at the Roseau Manor. She was born on May 30, 1913 in Grafton, ND to Hans and Elevina (Evens) Mohagen. Lillian graduated from Grafton High School and was employed at the School for the Blind in Bathgate, ND. She went on to attend school at the Union Commercial Business College for 6 months.Lillian married Clyde Evans on May 17, 1940 on the farm in Malung. They lived in Malung Township where they farmed cattle, grains and raised their children. Clyde died on January 12, 1977; Lillian continued to live on the farm until moving to the North Star Apartments in 1984. She moved into the Oakcrest Assisted Living as one of the first residences in 2006; she was forced to move into Sheltering Oaks Manor, now the Roseau Manor after she broke her hip.
Lillian was first a member of Salem Lutheran Church where she was a active member, she was currently a member of the Moe Lutheran Church and a member of the ladies aide. She was a charter member of the Malung Homemakers Group, she was a 4-H Leader for many years, a member of the Son’s of Norway in her younger years. She volunteered for the American Cancer Society and also volunteered at the Four Season’s Center.
Her hobbies included sewing, quilting, gardening, and playing board games. She loved to spend time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Clyde; her sister, Edna Mohagen; brothers Laurence, Helmer, Alvin and Ralph Mohagen.
Survivors include her children, Audrey (Dennis) Olson; Joan (Morris) Hulst all of Badger; Ione (Gary) Olson; Ruth (Peter) Kruse; Leelan (Joni) Evans; Sam (Jane) Evans; Louise (Lorris) Vatnsdal all of Roseau; her grandchildren, Sheldon, Donovan, Cameron, Shannon and Brandon Olson; Myrna Nelson, Mark, Micheal Hulst, Melanie Larson, Mary Jo Preteau; Cary, Jerry Olson and Melissa Lien; Jason Kruse; Eliza, Joseph and Tabatha Evans; Andrew, Heidi and Rebecca Evans; Matthew and Ashley Vatnsdal; her 29 great grandchildren and her sister, Mabel Johnson of Grafton, ND.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 6-8 pm until the 8:30pm devotional service in the Helgeson Funeral Chapel in Roseau.
Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday in the Moe Lutheran Church in Roseau.
Interment will be in the Salem Cemetery in the spring.
