Diane Stotts

Diane Stotts of rural Wannaska passed away at her home on March 7, 2008, at the age of 67 years, 5 month and 7 days.
Diane Mae Stotts, the second child of Milton and Leona (Roeder) Vedder, was born on April 23, 1940 at Hankinson, North Dakota. She was baptized and confirmed at the Immanuel Evangelical. Lutheran Church. Graduating from the Immanuel Lutheran School of Hankinson in 1958.
On July 18, 1958, she married Gene Francis Stotts. The couple lived in Fertile, Minnesota, where she worked for the Fertile Hatchers. After a brief stay in Beltrami, the couple moved to Ada, Minnesota where their son, Robert (Bob) and daughter, Debra, were born. In the early ’60 the couple moved to Crookston where their third child, Theresa (Terry) was born.
In the 1966, the couple moved to a farm South of Wannaska. She worked at Polaris for five years. Her career changed to one of farming/homemaker when the couple moved by the Stotts family farm north of Wannaska. In 1973, the couple had their 4th child, Mark. She and Gene filled in their off months with custom flax straw baling. In 1988, Diane went to work at LTJ Enterprises of Roseau. After her husband passed she retired for the most part only working every so often.
Diane enjoyed reading, drawing/painting, family water fights, riding horse, snowmobile racing, fishing (as long as the ice was thick or the boat didn’t rock), gardening, softball, and bowling. It is rumored that she played a mean game of baseball in her childhood. Her every busy spirit had her out mowing her lawn, creating/crafting and she had even started to take up bird house making.
She is survived by her four children, Robert “Bob” Stotts of Detroit Lakes, Debra “Deb” (Dan) Olson of Wannaska, Theresa “Terry” (Marlo) Lorenson of Strathcona, and Mark (Michelle) Stotts of Greenbush; eight grandchildren, Matthew and Ryan Stotts, Kimberly and Steven Olson, Anthony and Michelle Lorenson, and Michael Stotts and Katie Lunsetter; one brother, Robert (Chris) Vedder of Breckenridge, Minnesota; and five sisters-in-law, Ellen Anderson of Fergus Falls, Violet Johnson of Pinewood, Lois (Ben) Rucinski of Becida, Carol (Curtis) Amundson of Wannaska, and Alma Stotts of Roseau; one brother-in-law, Don Stotts of Colorado Springs; special friends, Linda Gross of Roseau, and Lael and Edmund Anderson of Roseau; companion, Sassy; and many nieces, nephews and extended families.
Diane was preceded in death by her husband; grandson, Derek Lee Olson; brother, David Vedder; sister-in-law, Grace Lewelling; and brother-in-laws, Robert Stotts, Carl Lewelling, and Dale Johnson.
Memorial services were held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, March 11, 2008 at the Helgeson Funeral Chapel in Roseau. Pastor Koch officiating. Honorary bearers are her grandchildren. A spring burial at the Mickinock Cemetery, rural Wannaska is planned.
