Harold Roberts

Harold Lee Roberts, of Roseau formerly of Badger and Greenbush, passed away Saturday, March 15, 2008 at LifeCare Medical Center in Roseau at the age of 83.
Harold was born April 22, 1924 in Albion, Nebraska to Minta Marie (Pike) and Elmer Roberts. He was the 2nd of 5 sons, 1 daughter and 2 half sisters.
Harold married Rose Christenson in 1945 after he was discharged from the Navy. Harold and Rose lived in several towns in Nebraska before moving to Aurora, CO with their 3 daughters in 1956. In 1976, Harold and Rose built a small apartment complex in Leadville, CO that they owned and operated until 1986. They than moved back to the Denver area. Rose passed away in May of 1992. During a visit to Roseau in 1998, he met and then married Carol Miller from Greenbush. In 2004 Harold moved into the Badger Creek Apartments. In October of 2006, he broke his hip, and moved to the Warroad Care Center. In March of 2007, he moved to Sheltering Oaks Manor in Roseau.
As a young man Harold loved to play football and basketball. He raced stock cars in the 1960’s. When his daughter moved to Roseau in 1968, he became a pilot to make visiting the granddaughters easier. At one time in his life he worked along side each of his three sons-in-law, Darrel, Dale and Dennis, mostly as a mechanic. Harold loved babies, and was in his height of glory holding newborns.
He is survived by his three daughters, Janet (David) Foster, Roseau, MN, Paulette (Dale) Erickson, Denver, CO, and Sharon (Dennis) Hochstetler, Bennett, CO, 6 grandchildren, Trish (Brian) Waage, Greenbush, MN, Christine (Darren) Foote, Tara (Jim) Kihle, Salol, MN, Andrea, Daniel, and Darrin Hochstetler, 7 great grandchildren, and 3 brothers, Dick, Dean, and Vernon. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Rose, son-in-law Darrel Courtright, brothers Jim and Lawrence, and sisters Doris Jane, Helen, and Marguarite.
