Girls Basketball Team plays in Summer Tournaments
Alicia WicklundOn Saturday, June 28th, the Gator Girls Basketball team played in the Northland Community and Technical College’s Summer Basketball Tournament.
To start out the day, the girls played the Thief River Falls Prowlers and lost 43-32. Coming back in their second game, the girls beat the Climax/Fisher Knights 40-35. They ended up playing their final game vs. the Bearcats and lost 47-28.
Both junior varsity and varsity played in a Holly tournament on Friday as well. Head coach Jon Hams was unable to be there, so Shane Kilen coached varsity and Anna Wicklund coached junior varsity. The junior varsity came in second at the tournament winning two games and losing one, and varsity won two games and lost two.
Coach Jon Hams commented, “The girls played well the past two days. There is a lot of talent and potential that we have on our team this year, but we still have a lot of improvement and a ways to go.”
