Frances Laidley, 68, died suddenly on Sunday, September 30, 2012 at her residence in rural Newfolden, MN, surrounded by her loving family.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, October 4, 2012 at the New Hope Lutheran Church in Newfolden, MN.  Burial will follow at Bethlehem Cemetery, New Solum Township, rural Newfolden, MN.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a 7:00 PM prayer service on Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN. 

Frances Elaine Carlson was born on July 24, 1944 in Roseau, MN the daughter of Oscar W. and Alice O. (Thompson) Carlson.  She was baptized on August 12, 1945 into the Lutheran faith and confirmed at the Badger Creek Lutheran Church in Badger, MN.  She attended school in Badger, MN and graduated in 1963 from Badger High School.  Following school, Frances worked as a nurse’s aide at Oakland Park Nursing Home in Thief River Falls, MN.

On April 17, 1965, Frances was united in marriage to Duane William Laidley at her parent’s home in Badger, MN.  They made their home on the Laidley family farm in rural Newfolden, MN and to this union five children were born Bradley, Michelle, Mark, Kevin and Kent.  Frances stayed home to raise her children and when they were old enough she went to work picking potatoes near Argyle, MN.  In 1987, Frances started working at Arctic Cat where she worked rolling the fiberglass and making the hoods, she later worked on the assembly line and ended her career as a welder’s helper and retired after 22 years of service.

She enjoyed attending New Hope Lutheran Church in Newfolden, MN.  Frances also enjoyed her dogs, reading, watching TV, and talking and visiting with her family and friends.

Survivors include her loving husband of 47 years, Duane of Newfolden, MN; loving children, Brad (Karla) Laidley of Thief River Falls, Michelle (Ray) Corbet, Mark Laidley, Kevin Laidley and Kent Laidley all of Newfolden; grandchildren, Keenan, Mason, Jessica, Amber, Hollie, Desarae, Paige, and Allison; great-grandchildren, Ezra, Regan, Ethan, Bryan, Madyson, Gretchen, Levi and Aurie; siblings, Bonnie Carlson of Badger, MN, Mike Carlson of Badger, Connie (Bob) Bosc of Everett, WA and Roy (Laureen) Carlson of Badger, MN; uncle, Albert Thompson; aunt, Pearl Thompson; and many nieces, nephews, relative and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; grandparents, Knute and Carrie Thompson and Erick and Anna Carlson; brothers, Floyd “Sonny” Carlson and Robert (Janette) Carlson; mother and father-in-law, Roy and Sophia Laidley.
