Morris "Glen" Fering died peacefully in his sleep on Monday, October 8, 2012 with family by his side.  Glen was born December 20, 1930 to Martin and Regna (Bergan) Fering in Eagle Point Township, Marshall County, MN.  Glen enlisted in the Army in February of 1951, served in the Korean War and was honorably discharged as a corporal in November of 1952. On June 19, 1954 he was united in marriage to Joan Steenerson in East Grand Forks MN.  Glen had worked in the mechanical field for over 35 years starting his career with Valley Motor in  Grand Forks, ND. He owned an automotive shop in Oslo, MN and worked for American Crystal Sugar Co for 16 years.  In 1963, Glen and Joan moved to the farm that he loved in Esther Township, East Grand Forks, MN where he farmed for 18 years before retiring.  Glen was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church and the VFW Post #3817.  Glen's family would like to thank Hospice of the Red River Valley and their family of friends for their kindness, friendship and most recently for the wonderful care they provided during his illness. 

Glen is survived by his wife, Joan of 58 years; grandchildren, Melissa (Ryan) Koepp Eagan MN and David Fering of Minneapolis, MN; daughter-in-law, Patricia Fering of Eagan, MN and great-grandsons, John and Jacob Koepp; sister-in-law, Ardell Fering;  brother-in-law, Gil Eide and brother-in-law, James (Joan) Steenerson of Frisco, TX along with nieces, nephews; numerous honorary children and friends. 

Glen was preceded in death by his parents; son, Randall Fering in 1999; brothers, Kenneth, Milton, Marshall; sisters, Wanda Remme, Mae Ion, Margaret Scharmer, Betty Peterson and Ruby Eide;

Visitation: 5:00 to 7:00 with a 7:00 PM Prayer Service on Thursday, October 11, 2012 in Dahl Funeral Home, 2029 Central Ave. NW, East Grand Forks, MN and also 1 hour prior to Funeral Service on Friday in Bethany Lutheran Church

Funeral services:  11:00 AM on Friday, October 12, 2012 in Bethany Lutheran Church, 10321 State Highway 220 NW, East Grand Forks, MN

Interment: Bethany South Cemetery
