A funeral Service for Jon Foss of Greenbush will be held on Tuesday, November 6 at the United Free Lutheran Church in Greenbush at 11:00 a.m.  Visitation will be held on Monday from 6-8 p.m. at Helgeson Funeral Chapel in Roseau with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m.

Jon Martin Foss was born on May 23, 1953 to Thilmer and Agnette (Elton) Foss at the Greenbush Community Hospital.  He attended Greenbush School, graduating in 1971.

On June 24, 1972 Jon was united in marriage to Holly Erickson at the Oiland Free Lutheran Church. They resided in Greenbush.

Jon worked at the Greenbush Elevator, Midland Co-op, and then Robertson Lumber.  In 1982 he started his own body shop in Greenbush.  The business grew and changed, and Jon was doing more car repairs, and selling used cars.  They ended up selling used car parts since they had several used cars, and scrapped the unit out once done with it.  The business then grew into a large scrap metal recycling emporium that it is known for today.  Jon’s sons have been working with him in the business for many years.

Jon enjoyed deer hunting, ice fishing, and even went Lobster fishing on Martha’s Vineyard one time with a friend, and wild boar hunting in Texas. He loved to fly airplanes, and collected antique snowmobiles.  He attended the Steam and Gas Show in Rollag several times, and enjoyed taking his grandson Bryton there.  He was a member of the WMSTR. He loved Nascar racing. Camping and auction sales were also among his favorite things to do.

Jon was a member of the Greenbush Fire Department since 1981, was an EMT from 1976 to 1986, was on the Greenbush City Counsel from 1999 to 2010, and was a member of the Masons.

Jon passed away on Thursday, November 1 at Sanford Hospital in Fargo.  He was 59 years old.

He is survived by his wife Holly of Greenbush; sons, Jared (Christine) Foss, and Jamen (Joanna) Foss, both of Greenbush; daughters: Kaci (Dane) Wiskow of Greenbush and Morgan (Dennis) Bukowski of Fargo; grandchildren: Erin, Bryton, Jamee, and Camber Foss, Holly Ann and Emerson Wiskow, and Kate Bukowski; brothers: David and Dale Foss; and several nieces, nephews and many close friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Thilmer and Agnette; mother and father-in-law Fauncie and Irene Erickson; sister-in-law Sharon Foss; and nephew Brady Hasson.
