Chester Noryl Lundsten, 81, passed away at home on November 14, 2012.

Chester was born on January 26, 2931 at Williams, the son of Carl and Agnes (Meloney) Lundsten. He grew up in Williams and graduated from the Williams High School in 1950, attended the University of Minnesota and then graduated from Bemidji State University in 1967.

Chester enlisted in the Air Force on August 29, 1950 and was discharged on May 5, 1954. During that time he was stationed at Elmerndorf Air Force Base in Alaska.

Chester was united in marriage to Alvina Pomerenke on July 1, 1962. They had been married for over fifty years. He taught industrial arts in the Lake of the Woods schools and later served as a custodian.

Hockey was something Chet especially enjoyed and was an important part of his life. Through the years he played hockey on high school, Air Force, local Williams and Baudette teams, several years in the annual Snoopy’s Senior World Hockey Tournament in Santa Rosa, CA, as well as coaching. He also liked hunting, dancing and had an interest in airplanes.

Chester was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Agnes Lundsten, brothers Loren and Melvern Lundsten, sister-in-law Myrtle Lundsten, and brother-in-law William Bortmas. He is survived by his wife Alvina, sons Chad and Shane Lundsten, daughters Julianda Lundsten and Heather (Chad) Hjelm, granddaughters Molly and Maggie Hjelm, sister Dorine Bortmas, brother John (Ilse) Lundsten, sister-in-law Dora Lundsten, niece Debra (Dave) Pierson, and nephews Bruce, Lawrence and Ronald (Donna) Lundsten.

A memorial Service for Chester Lundsten of Williams will be held on Monday, November 19, 2012 at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Williams at 4:00 p.m.  Visitation will be held one our prior to the service at Bethany Church.

Helgeson Funeral Chapel of Baudette is entrusted with the arrangements.
