Marie Elaine Lockhart Wammer was born in Roseau, MN on July 24th, 1937 to August Steven and Helen (Merrill) Koebernick.  Marie grew up North of Williams, MN, the oldest of ten.  She attended school in Williams.  She met her husband Leslie and lived with his parents, where she and Leslie learned the trade of Newspaper Printing.  Leslie and Marie were married June 10, 1956 at Pilgrim Congregational Church in Williams.  Marie and Leslie moved out to Burlington, CO where they worked for a local Newspaper Business, during their time there, their firstborn Steven Edward was born.  In 1959 they moved to Badger, MN where they established their home and welcomed throughout the years, Scott Leslie, Susan Marie, Stacey Lee and Samantha Jo to their family.  Together they owned and were Editors to “The Badger Enterprise”, the hometown newspaper, Marie worked with Les at the shop and eventually sold the shop after the passing of Leslie in 1984.  After selling the newspaper business, Marie took time off to raise her youngest Samantha.  In 1991, Marie re-entered the workforce working at Badger’s local grocery store where she enjoyed creating and serving the surrounding communities with her famous and beautiful meat, cheese, fruit and veggie trays, her strawberry surprise and hobo dinners for the Greenbush Men’s Golf Members.

Marie shared her loved through the crocheting of afghans, Christmas stockings and tree skirts, she also enjoyed embroidery.  She loved flowers and prided herself in wintering geraniums that she had received as gifts; she loved planting flowers in her flower gardens and walking around her yard. She also was an avid reader until she lost her sight, thankfully she was able to continue enjoying listening to audio books, and her favorite authors were, Nicholas Sparks, Danielle Steele and Karen Kingsbury.  She was very proud of her children and grandchildren and loved all of them so much.

She is survived by her children, Steven (Kris) Lockhart, Wadena MN, Scott Lockhart, Bettendorf IA, Susan (Mike) Wilebski, Soldotna AK, Stacey Lockhart, Badger MN and Samantha (Brian) Olson, Roseau MN; grandchildren, Jesse, Britney, Miranda, Jordan, Izaak, Joshua, Jeremy, Jackie ,and Jessica; great-grandchildren, James and Adeline; brothers/sisters, Raymond Koebernick, Bonnie Duff, Karen Patch, David (Nadine) Koebernick, Lowell (Lynn) Koebernick, Carolyn (John) Vouk, Deb (Tom) Tillisch,  Billy (Arlene) Koebernick and Gary Koebernick; and Dear Family Member Friend, Leah Meland.

She was preceded in death by her husbands’ Leslie Lockhart and Obert Wammer; grandson, Jonathan Leslie Lockhart; parents, August Steven and Helen Koebernick, Ed and Joyce Lockhart; brother, Allen Koebernick; and brother-in-law, Rudy Patch.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 23rd at 2 PM at Helgeson Funeral Home in Roseau with visitation two hours prior to the service.  Interment will be at the Badger City Cemetery.
