Charity Jean Lanning, 31

A funeral service for Charity Jean Lanning of Roosevelt will be held on Thursday, April 22, 2010 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Warroad at 2:00 p.m…  Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. at Helgeson Funeral Chapel in Warroad with a devotional service at 7:00 p.m., and also one hour prior to the service at the church.

 

Charity passed away on April 15, 2010 following a battle with infections over the past year. She was 31 years old and will be deeply missed. 

 

Charity Jean Stewart was born on December 23, 1978 in Baudette, MN to Bobbie (Johnson) and Arlyn Stewart.  She attended school in Warroad, graduating in 1997.  She attended cosmetology school in St. Cloud, and then in Thief River Falls where she graduated.

 

Charity married Jason Lanning on June 12, 2004 in Baudette, MN.  They have 2 children, Dawson and Lola.  Charity worked at Arnesen’s Rocky Point as a bartender, and in housekeeping with her mom.  She also worked a at Denny’s Hair Care in Warroad, but most recently she has been a stay at home mom.

 

Charity enjoyed fishing, gardening, camping, and hunting deer.  She loved to bake and always kept several cookbooks handy in her kitchen.  She liked, shopping, visiting with friends, but mostly to spend time with her children and family.

 

Charity is survived by her husband Jason of Roosevelt; children: Dawson and Lola Lanning; parents, Bobbie and Arlyn Stewart of Roosevelt, brother, Dustin (Anna) Stewart of Salol;  grandparents: Ione Carlson of Roosevelt, Lola Stewart of Warroad, and Victor Olson of Little Falls, MN; mother-in-law Eunice (Delbert) Schmitz of Red Lake Falls, MN, and brother-in-law Vance of East Grand Forks, MN. She is also survived by aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends

 

She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Bennie Carlson, Carl Stewart, Helen Olson, and Robert Johnson; and father-in-law Craig Lanning.
