Robert V. “Jack Pine Bob” Anderson passed away on April 22, 2010 at the LakeWood Care Center in Baudette, MN at the age of 90.
Bob was born on March 2, 1920 in Wahkon, MN to Bessie VanCamp and Charles E. Anderson. He was raised and attended school in Isle, MN and later worked in the woods, logging with his grandpa near Big Fork, MN. He worked in California for a short time before entering the U.S. Army Air Corps and served during WWII until his honorable discharge in 1945.
He and Barbara J. Nolander were married on August 30, 1947 in Nevis, MN. They lived in Duluth and Moose Lake, MN before finally moving to Baudette, MN where Bob worked as the Asst. Area Supervisor in Charge of State Land Management with the Minnesota Forest Service. He retired after 36 years of service. Following his retirement, he worked for the Lake of the Woods County Highway Dept.
Bob enjoyed hunting and fishing and working in the outdoors. He loved his coffee time at the Ranch House, and curled until his was nearly 80. His dedication to community service was evident in his life. He was a life member of the American Legion and First Congregational Church.
He is survived by his children, Judy (Rod) Gubbels, Robert (Deb) Anderson, both of Baudette, and Carrie (Jerry) Frohreich of Helena, MT; 7 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; siblings, Lyle “Bud” Anderson of Aitken, MN, Mary Hughes of Iowa and Betty (Gus) Roehlke of Mora, MN.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Barbara in 2006; brother, Basil; and grandsons, Jonathon and Nick.
Memorial services will be held on Friday, April 30th at 1:00 PM at First Congregational Church in Baudette. Interment will be at the Elm Park Veterans Park Cemetery in Baudette. Military rites by the Baudette Ceremonial Squad.
