Frances. A. Swenson, 90

Frances. A. Swenson, died at the Kittson Memorial Nursing Home in
Hallock, Minnesota on Wednesday, May 5, 2010.  Frances was born in
Granville Township of Kittson County, Minnesota on April 7, 1920.
She was the 5th child and only daughter of Adolph and Signe Swenson.
Frances was baptized and confirmed at Sion Lutheran Church in
Lancaster.  After graduating from Lancaster High School she took a 7
month course at the Minneapolis Business College.  After working in
the business office of Kiene Farms in Kennedy for 2 years, she
attended the winter and spring terms at the Lutheran Bible Institute
in Minneapolis.  She then returned to Hallock where she worked in the
office of the Kittson County Hardware and Implement Company for two
years.  Frances then went to Minneapolis to join the Fellowship of
the World Mission Prayer League.  In 1952 she was approved by the
Prayer League to go to India as a missionary.  In 1955 it became
possible for her to go to Nepal where she worked as a missionary
until her retirement in October of 1987.  She made her home in
Minneapolis and worked as a volunteer in the World Mission Prayer
League business office.  In January 2005 Frances moved to Lancaster
Homes in Lancaster.  In December of 2006, she became a resident of
the Kittson Memorial Nursing Home.  
    Frances was preceded in death by her mother, father and step father,
Martin Peterson, her brothers, Edwin, Carl, Oscar, Elmer and infant
brother, Alton.  She was also preceded in death by step brothers,
Harvey Peterson, Raymond Peterson and step sister, Harriet Gustafson.
Frances is survived by her sisters-in-law, Doris Swenson, Margaret
Swenson, Lyla Swenson, Lyla Peterson and many nieces and nephews and
their families.  
    Memorial services are scheduled for Monday, May 10th, 2010 at 2:00
p.m. in Sion Lutheran Church, Lancaster.  Interment will be in Sikar
Cemetery.  Pastor Kathy Levenhagen, presiding; Galen Nordin, soloist
and Diane Rice, organist.  Honorary casket bearers will be the World
Mission Prayer League.  Casket bearers will be the Swenson nices and
nephews.  Memorial are prefered to the World Mission Prayer League.
The Austin-Hughes Funeral Home of Hallock is in charge of
arrangements.
