Wayne Klemetson, 63

Wayne Klemetson, 63 died on Thursday, May 20, 2010 as the result of an automobile accident in rural Thief River Falls.
 
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, May 24, 2010 at Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, MN with Rev. Rena Peterson officiating.  Military honors will be provided by the American Legion Ecklund-Holmstrom Post #117 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #2793.
 
Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a 7:00 PM prayer service on Sunday, May 23, 2010 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN.  Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to the funeral at the church.
 
 Wayne Curtiss Klemetson was born on August 6, 1946 in Roseau, MN the son of Hansel Kenneth and Bertha (Roberts) Klemetson.  He was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith in Greenbush, MN.  Wayne attended school in Greenbush and graduated from Greenbush High School in 1964.
 
He entered into service with the United States Navy on November 27, 1964 and served two tours in Vietnam.  He served aboard the USS Constellation.  Wayne was Honorably Discharged on December 17, 1970.
 
On July 25, 1970 he was united in marriage to Diane Beito and to this union three children were born, Traci, Darwin and Karleen.  They made their home in rural Thief River Falls.
 
Wayne worked for a short time at Polaris in Roseau; he then moved to Thief River Falls and attended Northwest Technical College for accounting, and while attending school he worked as an ambulance driver at Northwest Medical Center.  In 1971 Wayne became self-employed and worked for West Bend for a short time; he then went to Combined Insurance where he worked for many years.  In the mid-1980’s, Wayne started his own independent insurance business which he called Klemetson Agency.
 
Wayne was an avid outdoorsman who thoroughly enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping with his family and friends.  He was very personable and had the gift of gab.  He could talk and make friends with people anywhere he went even giving them his signature “wave.”  Wayne was a great cook; he enjoyed cream can cookouts, drunken chickens and grilling steaks and burgers with his famous fried onions and mushrooms.
 
He was a member of Oak Ridge Lutheran Church; was very active in the Minnesota Deer Hunters Association where he held many offices; was a life member of the VFW Post #2793 and a member of the American Legion Post #117.
 
Survivors include three children, Traci (Mike) Crotteau of Deer River, MN, Darwin (Jessica) Klemetson of Thief River Falls and Karleen (Tony) Litzinger of Middle River, MN; four grandchildren, Hattie, Haley, Ashton, and Jilliana; brothers and sisters, Audrey (Frank) Christinson of Cavalier, ND, Joyce (Mike) Burkel of Thief River Falls, Gary (special friend, Joni) Klemetson of Thief River Falls, Roger (Faye) Klemetson of Badger, MN, and Beverly (Greg) Underdahl of Newfolden; and many relatives and friends.
 
He is preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Harlen.
