Clifford (Cliff) Tveit, 87

Resident of Baudette, MN and Phoenix, AZ, Clifford passed away, in Phoenix, on May 22, 2010 at the age of 87. Clifford was born on April 1, 1923 on the family farm near Rocky Point, Roosevelt, MN. He attended country school with his siblings and made life-long friends at this one-room school house.. On April 9, 1948, he married Louise Johnson (of Williams) and to this marriage, they were blessed with three daughters, Cathy and Connie, (the twins) and Sylvia (Susie), whom Clifford always referred to as his girls. Farming was not the future for Clifford, so in 1957, his good friend, Johnny Johnson offered him a job working at the Grand Forks Air Force base. Clifford went there thinking he was going to be a truck driver and Johnny believed in Clifford’s talents as a carpenter and this began a life-long love of building high-rise structures. In 1962, Clifford and the family, moved to Coon Rapids, MN and he enjoyed a long career with Bor-Son Construction. He polished his skills and quickly moved to carpenter foreman and held this position until his retirement.
Clifford was an easy man to like, he lived a simple life and thoroughly enjoyed a good visit with family and friends. He had an infectious laugh that was unique only to him.
Clifford and Louise spent the winter months, after retirement, in Arizona which allowed him to enjoy another passion year-around, which was golf.
Clifford became ill in February and this health battle he could not conquer and passed away to his heavenly home at 6:40 a.m. on May 22.
Louise and his girls were the love of his life and words cannot express the loss of this fine, wonderful, generous, caring man..
He is survived by Louise, his wife of 62 years, Cathy Tveit of Coon Rapids, MN and Phoenix, AZ, Connie (Terry) Reyes of Fridley, MN and Sylvia (Lynn) Gustafson of Plymouth, MN. He is also survived by two granddaughters: Marisa (Adam) Reyes-Johnson and Alicia (Matt) Reyes-Johnson, sister Gertie (Roy) Sunne, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Charlene and Walt LaFontaine. Numerous nieces, nephews and caring friends. Preceded in death by his parents, Olaf and Olga Tveit, brothers Thorvald and Les, sisters Aggie Jewell and Cecilia Tveit, mother-in-law Alice Johnson and special friend, Ed Hansen.
