Lorraine M. Sullivan, 90

Lorraine M. Sullivan, 90, of East Grand Forks, MN passed away Thursday, June 10, 2010 in Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND.
Lorraine Margaret Anderson was born November 1, 1919 in Crystal, ND the daughter of Clarence A. and Theodora (Arason) Anderson.  She attended elementary school in Mountain, ND and later lived in Bismarck,ND with her aunt and uncle, Margaret and Paul Halldorson.  She graduated from Bismarck High School in 1938 and then attended Bismarck Junior College.  She enlisted in the United States Army (WAAC) on August 31, 1943 at Tooele, UT and served in the Technical Service Unit of the Army.  She was honorably discharged from military service on December 10, 1945 at Camp Beale, CA.  She was reactivated into military service during the Korean War on January 15, 1951 at Fort Sheridan, IL.   Again, she was honorable discharged from military service with the rank of Sergeant on August 8, 1952 at Fort Lincoln, ND. Lorraine married John “Vin” Sullivan on June 18, 1952 in Sacred Heart Catholic Church in East Grand Forks, MN.
Following their marriage, they resided in East Grand Forks.  Vin preceded her in death on September 7, 2000.  Lorraine continued to reside in East Grand Forks until her death.
Loraine was devoted to her family and was nurturing and caring to all those she loved.  She was lovingly referred to as “Aunty” and “Grandma”.  Her faith, country and family were the most important aspects of her life. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, canvas board crafts, baking, and collecting souvenir spoons.  She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the American Legion Post 157, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3817 of East Grand Forks and a patron and supporter of the fire fighters of East Grand Forks.
She is survived by, her sisters, Joyce (Urchie) Ellis, Richmond, VI, Margaret Vistad, Climax, MN, Doris Penas, Carrington, ND; brothers, Clarence ”Andy” Anderson, Seqium, WA, Russell(Goodie) Anderson, Hensel, ND, Lawrence (Carrie) Anderson, Hensal, ND; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews; honorary grandchildren and a many Godchildren.
She was preceded in death by, her husband, Vin; her parents, a brother, Arthur Anderson, and a nephew Robert Anderson.
Mass of Christian Burial: 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 19, 2010 in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, East Grand Forks, MN.
Visitation: 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday with a 7:00 p.m. vigil service and 4:30 p.m. rosary service in the Gregory J. Norman Funeral Chapel.  Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the liturgy in the church on Saturday.
Burial: Calvary Cemetery, Grand Forks, ND.
Military Honors: Members of the American Legion Post 157 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3817 and the North Dakota National Guard.
