Lucille Johnson, 83

    Lucille Johnson, 83, of Lake Bronson, Minnesota passed away at
Kittson Memorial Healthcare Center in Hallock on Saturday, July 3rd,
2010.  Lucille was born July 10, 1926 near Franklin, Minnesota to
Anton and Lena (Roeber) Brown.  Lucille had three sisters, Luella,
Dorothy and Ruth who died as an infant.  She grew up and attended
rural school and Franklin High School where she graduated in 1940.
Upon graduating, Lucille went to Minneapolis and worked at the
Donaldson Department Store.  While living in the cities she met her
future husband, Victor Johnson.  Victor and Lucille were married on
March 29, 1947 in Franklin.  Lucille spent most of her adult life in
Lake Bronson.  In 2004 she moved to Hallock.   She assisted Victor
during his political career and also assisted in the running of the
local newspapers and reported the news from Lake Bronson for the
North Star News.  Later in life she worked at the Lake Bronson
Creamery. Lucille was active in the Community Covenant Church where
she taught Sunday School and was the treasurer of the Covenant Women
for many years.   She loved helping out and belonging to the Lake
Bronson Senior Citizens and the Jupiter Busy Bees.  Lucille enjoyed a
passion to bake and cook for her family and friends, especially her
famous sour cream rolls.  Spending time in her vegetable garden and
tending to her flowers was special to Lucille.   
    Family members include five children, Ronald (Jannie) Johnson of
Sparta, MI, Jeanne Johnson, Chanhassen, MN, Robert (MaryLou) Johnson,
Edina, MN, Kenneth (Joan) Johnson, Ashby, MN and Lynette (Earl)
Mattson, Kennedy, MN; 11 grandchildren, Marla (Eric) Ekman, Eden
Prairie, MN Christina Johnson, St. Paul, MN, Jeff and Lisa Johnson,
Edina; Tracy (Jared) Frykman, Barrett, MN, Brent Johnson and fiancee,
Abby Boggs, Ashby, MN,  Mark (Nicole) Vagle, Bogart, GA, James (Kate)
Vagle, Chanhassen, MN, Nathan Vagle, Minneapolis, MN, Charlotta and
Vanessa, Mattson, Kennedy; four great grandchildren, Maya, Rhys and
Chase Vagle, Bogart and Elena Vagle, Chanhassen; a sister, Dorothy
(Richard) Caron, Brooklyn Park, MN and a brother-in-law, Richard
Morath, St. Paul; as well as nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in
death by her parents; husband, Victor and sisters, Luella and Ruth.
    Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, July 7th, 2010 at
11:00 a.m. in Maria Lutheran Church, Kennedy.  Interment will be in
Riverside Cemetery, Lake Bronson.  Pastor Kathy Levenhagen,
presiding; special music, Lyndon Johnson and Laurel Johnson; Mark
Vagle, soloist, Brent Johnson, soloist and Nicole Vagle, accompanist.
Casket bearers will be Lucille’s grandchildren. Visitation will be at
the Austin-Hughes Funeral Chapel in Hallock on Tuesday evening from 6
to 8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m.
