Amy Peterson 92

Amy Peterson of Lancaster, Minnesota passed away on July 17,
2010 at the Kittson Memorial
Healthcare Center in Hallock, MN at the age of 92 years and 6 months.
Amy Erickson was born on the farm near Halma, Minnesota on
February 16, 1918, to Oscar and Annie Erickson. She was one of nine
children. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford, who
passed away on December 20,1989, her five brothers: Harry, Elmer,
Arnold, Arthur, and Walter and three sisters: Ellen, Gladys, and
Irene.
Amy attended school in Halma until the family moved to Lake
Bronson
and then she attended the Lake Bronson High School. All the children
had to help out at home and worked out when they could. Amy met
Clifford Peterson from Lancaster at a dance in Halma and they married
2
years later in Lancaster on September 30, 1939.
Amy and Clifford bought a small farm west of Lancaster. They started
with a few milking cows, raised some chickens and pigs. Amy was seen
a lot heading for the barn to help with the milking and chores.
Clifford
had a good long trap line for several years.
The Peterson’s had three  children: Ardell Larson, of Lake
Bronson, MN Darrell (Pat) Peterson
and Neil (Daviette) Peterson of Lancaster, MN.
Amy had many hobbies, amongst them were cross stitching, baking,
embroidering, playing rummy with the grandchildren, lady friends, or
whoever would play with her. She made a beautiful cross stitched
tablecloth for each of her children. She loved spending her evenings
listening to Lawrence Welk while embroidering dish towels for family
members. One of her highlights in her later years was her trip to
Branson, Missouri with Ardell to visit the Lawrence Welk Theatre and
enjoy the shows there..
Amy and Clifford were life long members of the Sion Lutheran
Church
in Lancaster.
Amy was a great baker, known for her delicious caramel rolls, Santa
Claus Cookies and her wonderful Sandbalkas. We have fond memories
of her waffle suppers with homemade chokecherry syrup. She loved
reading cookbooks and trying out new recipes.
She enjoyed having the grandkids come for sleepovers and rummy
games. Amy has 6 grandchildren: Vicki, daughter of Ardell Larson and
Wally Larson, Pamela, Penny, and CJ, children of Darrell and Pat
Peterson, Molly and Jesse, children of Neil and Daviette Peterson. She
has 7 Great grandchildren: Vicki’s 2 boys, Tyler and Tanner, Pamela’s
2
children, Sydney and Thomas, Penny’s 2 children, Madisyn and Mason,
and Molly’s girl, Mercedes. She entered the Kittson Memorial
Healthcare Center on April 11,2007 and enjoyed all the wonderful
activities provided and had been known to share a joke or two with the
staff.
