Robert Taylor Halvorson, 61

Robert Taylor Halvorson passed away at his home in Badger on July 23, 2010 at the age of 61.
Robert was born on December 9, 1948 in Roseau, MN to Edith (Lindgren) and Taylor Halvorson. He grew up on a farm in Jadis Township where he helped his father farm. He later graduated from Roseau High School in 1966. He served in the U.S. Army from January of 1969 until his Honorable Discharge in September of 1970 after being wounded in Vietnam. In his service, he received the Purple Heart, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal.
He started his career at Polaris Industries in September of 1968, working as a welder until his retirement in June of 2010 after 41 ¾ years. He and Mary Ignaszewski were married on March 25, 1972. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, Mary of nearly 40 years. He loved sports, riding ATV’s, hunting, fishing, and working around his farm. His favorite pastime was playing with his grandchildren. He will be remembered as a kind and giving man who was loved by all.
He was a member of Our Redeemers Lutheran Church in Badger, a life member of the VFW in Badger and later Roseau.
He is survived by his wife, Mary of Roseau; children, Michael (Tara) of Buffalo, MN and Michelle (Ryan) Reichert of Lacey, WA; grandchildren, Lauren and Annabel Reichert and Kaden Halvorson; mother, Edith Halvorson of Roseau; brothers, Morris (Carol) of Thief River Falls, James (Sandi) of Roseau and Thomas of Roseau; several nieces and nephews; and special aunt, Rae Lindgren of El Cajon, CA.
He was preceded in death by his father, Taylor Halvorson; and in-laws, Isidor and Rita Ignaszewski.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 28th at 4 PM at Our Redeemers Lutheran Church in Badger. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 5-7 PM with a 7:00 prayer service at Helgeson Funeral Home in Roseau.
