Ruth Irene Golby, the daughter of the late Carl and Helga (Hanson) Kleven, was born on September 3, 1930, in Marsh Grove Township of Marshall County, near Newfolden, Minnesota. As a child, she moved with her family to a farm in Deerwood Township of Kittson County, near Karlstad. She attended the former Beaton School near her home and was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. On October 21, 1947, Ruth was united in marriage to Clyde Golby at Lancaster, Minnesota. The couple lived and farmed for many years in Deerwood Township of Kittson county, near Karlstad. Ruth was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church of Karlstad and active in Ladies Aid. She enjoyed quilting and rug making over the years. She also loved baking, gardening, canning and especially fishing at the Roseau River and Lake Bronson. Clyde passed away February 22, 2005, and Ruth continued her home on the farm for three years before moving to the Meadows Assisting Living facility. She passed away there unexpectedly on Thursday evening, August 19, 2010, at the age of 79 years, 11 months and 16 days.
