Thomas L. Gunstinson, 60, of Grand Forks, ND died Monday, September 13, 2010 at the Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, ND.
Tom Gunstinson was born September 11, 1950 in Crookston, MN the son of Ervin and Marian (Rutherford) Gunstinson. Tom was baptized at home and was confirmed in the Fisher Lutheran Church. Tom grew up and attended school in Fisher, MN, graduating from Fisher High School with the Class of 1968. Tom spent 3 years in the United States Army during the Viet Nam war as a Crew Chief on a CH47 helicopter. He attended Moorhead Technical College and Northland Community College in East Grand Forks, MN. He drove semi for Pam Oil Company and Paul Koemstadt. Tom was currently employed by Paul Aslakson Trucking and had been there for 23 years. He married Nyla Spencer on December 10, 1982. Nyla passed away from cancer in 2002.
Tom was a member of the Fisher American Legion Post #0242.
He is survived by his mother Marian of Fisher, MN, 2 sisters, Laurel (Lynn) Haake and Paula (Duane) Isaacson, both of Fisher, MN, 1 brother James (A. Mary) Gunstinson, of El Cajon, CA, uncle and aunt Edmun and Dona Rae Rutherford of Naples, FL and Aunt Julia Rutherford of Fisher, MN and many nieces and nephews.
Tom is preceded in death by his wife Nyla on October 14, 2002, his father Ervin Gunstinson on December 1, 1997, his grandparents William & Mae Rutherford and G. O. (Ole) & Mary Gunstinson.
Funeral Service: 3:00 PM, Friday, September 17, 2010 at the Fisher Lutheran Church, Fisher, MN.
Visitation: Thursday from 5-7 PM with a 7:00 PM prayer service at the Stennes Funeral Home, East Grand Forks, MN and 1 hour before services at the church.
Interment: Fisher Lutheran Cemetery, Fisher, MN.
