DuWayne Stanley Rice, 77

DuWayne Stanley Rice passed away suddenly on Wednesday, September 15, 2010 at his home in Pinecreek, MN at the age of 77.
Stanley was born on October 26, 1932 in Pinecreek, MN to Oliver and Inga Rice.  He grew up in and attended country school in the Pinecreek area.  In his youth, he worked on the family farm with his family, and also several jobs, including, farming in the Karlstad area with Bogestad Farms, the D.N.R. Fisheries, at Fredrickson’s Implement, and worked construction on the Guest House building.
He and Donna Lidberg were married on October 24, 1959 in Aitkin, MN.  He continued his career in farming in the Pinecreek area farming small grains and grass seed until his retirement in 1994.  After his retirement, he worked for a time at Ford and the Trading Post paper route.  Stanley loved the outdoors and his family.  He enjoyed deer hunting, and fishing, mowing and gardening, word-find puzzles, helping drive machinery and working to restore tractors.  He was a member of the Pinecreek Lutheran Church.
He will be remembered for his hard work ethic, his love of family and the Pinecreek community.
He is survived by his wife, Donna of Pinecreek; children, Stuart (Deborah) Rice of Pinecreek, Steven Rice of Moorhead, MN, Gregg (Barb) Rice of Fargo, ND, Gary (Lori) Rice of Fargo, ND and Kirby (Kelly) Rice of Pinecreek, MN; grandchildren, Aris (Aaron) Gross, Emanuel Rice, Kaeley (Kyle)Welsh, Trista Rice, Alissah Rice, Jessica and Nicholas Forst, Mina Rice and Anya Rice; great-grandchildren, Hunter, Presleigh, Xander, and Eden; siblings, Olga (Francis) Ask of Glenwood, MN, Delphine (Vernon) Ode of Crookston, MN, Lorraine (George) Dye of Coon Rapids, MN, Margie (Dick) Anderson of Bemidji, MN, Evelyn (Dale) Wold of Moorhead, MN, Kathleen (Hartley) Dahl of Elk River, MN, and Dwight (Betty) Rice of St. Paul, MN; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Roy and Knute Rice; and granddaughter, Bella Rice.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 18th at 2 PM at Pinecreek Lutheran Church in rural Roseau, MN.  Visitation will be on Friday from 5-7 pm with a 7:00 prayer service at Helgeson Funeral Home in Roseau.  Interment will be at the Pinecreek Cemetery.
