Marcelyn Dorothy Lindstrom, 78

Marcelyn Dorothy Lindstrom, the daughter of the late Edwin and Evelyn (Hegstrom) Lefrooth, was born on June 16, 1932, in Marshall Co., near Strandquist, MN. She grew to womanhood there and graduated from Strandquist High School in 1949. She was a life-long member of the Bethesda Lutheran Church in Strandquist. On June 24, 1950, Marcelyn was united in marriage to Morris Lindstrom at Strandquist. Marcelyn and Morris lived on a farm near Strandquist for 50 years. There they raised their four children. The family farm was a gathering place for their many relatives and friends. Marcelyn was a wonderful cook and hostess. She was an Avon representative for many years. She also worked Arctic Cat in Thief River Falls. At the age of 48, she fulfilled a lifelong dream of becoming a nurse and graduated from the AVTI in Thief River Falls as an LPN. She practiced nursing and loved her jobs at the Karlstad Memorial Hospital and Clinic and the Karlstad Memorial Nursing Home, and also Kittson Community Health Services in Hallock. Marcelyn had many interests. She had served as a Sunday School teacher, was a past American Legion Auxiliary President, and was an avid reader and loved crossword puzzles. She loved baking, cooking, playing cards and spending as much time with her children and grandchildren as she could. She loved holidays and family gatherings. She also loved watching and following the Minnesota Twins. Marcelyn and Morris retired to the Park Rapids area in 2000. Morris passed away August 24, 2009. For the past few years, Marcelyn has made her home with her daughter Lori and Ted in Osage, MN., and most recently, at May Creek Assisted Living in Walker, MN. She passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Area Hospital in Park Rapids on Wed. evening, Sept. 22, 2010, at the age of 78 years, 3 months and 6 days.
She is survived by 2 sons: Jeff (Peggy), of Akeley, MN and Robert (Pat), of Strandquist; 2 daughters: Lori (Ted) Johnson, of Osage, and Diane (Paul) Ditmanson, of Bemidji; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two brothers: Vance (Adrienne) Lefrooth and Donald (Marlys) Lefrooth, both of Strandquist; one sister: Elaine (Dave) Grovum, of Thief River Falls; in addition to many nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and step-mother Elsie, brother Verne Lefrooth and sister: Joann Holmstrom.
