Roger N. Holmstrom, 55

Roger N. Holmstrom, 55 of Bemidji, MN died Sunday, October 24, 2010 at his home after an almost 15 year battle with leukemia.
Memorial Services will be at 1:00 pm, Wednesday, October 27, 2010 at the Cease Family Funeral Home in Bemidji, MN with Pastor TomRakow officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
He was born January 3, 1955 in Karlstad, MN the son of Alvin and Ruth (Gunderson) Holmstrom.  He attended and graduated fromStrandquist High School.  He worked at Halma Concrete in Halma, MN for several years and then Newfolden Machining for several more years.  He married Caara Hougard June 21, 1992 in Strandquist, MN.  In 1998, he underwent his first of two bone marrow transplants. They moved to Bemidji in 1999 where they purchased Animal Land from Caara’s mother after the sudden death of Caara’s father.  Caaraand Roger have owned and ran the business since.  He underwent his second bone marrow transplant in 2000.  Roger had an incredible love for animals; the animals even enjoyed living in the house with them on many occasions.
He is survived by his wife:         Caara Holmstrom of Bemidji

            2 brothers-in-law:         Sterling (Gayle) Hougard of Karlstad
                                                Merritt (Karie) Hougard of Bemidji
            Mother-in-law: Marion Hougard of Bemidji
He was preceded in death by his parents, father-in-law Earl Hougard, 3 uncles Elmer and Ernest Holmstrom and Rueben Gunderson and his aunt Ellen Stromberg.
Honorary pallbearers will be Hunter and Eric Hougard, Tyler Tryon, Lois Kleinvachter, Matthew Hammer, Vance and Kelly Lefrooth, Kevin Vogel, Randy and Tracey Moyer, Anita and Fred Hensrud and LouAnn Rux.
