Wallace Anderson, 80

Wallace Anderson, 80, of East Grand Forks, MN passed away on Wednesday, November 10, 2010 at the Good Samaritan Society, Warren, MN after a courageous battle with cancer.

Wallace R. Anderson was born on May 28, 1930 in Warren, MN the son of Lawrence and Nora Anderson.  Wally grew up and attended school in Warren, MN graduating from Warren High School with the Class of 1948.  Wally married Lois Mathews on March 20, 1949.  They farmed near Angus, MN and then in 1961 they moved to Roseville, MN where he worked for Armour’s in South St. Paul, MN.  Following his retirement, they moved to East Grand Forks, MN in 1979.  Wally worked for Thureen Farms of East Grand Forks, MN and was custodian at the Eagles Club and the VFW as well as the grounds keeper at the Riverbend Golf Course.  Wally enjoyed working in his yard and won the 1987 summer award for “Yard of the Year”.  During his retirement years he enjoyed viewing major league baseball, football and Nascar Races.  Wally always looked forward to Morning Coffee with his buddies.

The family respectively asks that memorials be given to First Lutheran Church, East Grand Forks, MN.

 

Family members of Wally include his brother, Hubert (Marlene) Anderson of East Grand Forks, MN, sisters, Frances (Robert) Johnson of Clearwater, KS, Virginia (Harold) Berg of Hastings, MN, sisters-in-law, Louanna Reopelle of East Grand Forks, MN and Idella Piescher of Mora, MN along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. 

Wally was preceded in death by his wife Lois, and his parents.

 

Funeral Service:  11:00 AM on Tuesday, November 16, 2010 in First Lutheran Church, 203 5th St. NW, East Grand Forks, MN

 

Visitation:  5:00 to 7:00 with a 6:30 PM Prayer Service on Monday, November 15, 2010 in Stennes Funeal Home of East Grand Forks, MN, and  1 hour before the Funeral Service in the church.

 

Interment:  Greenwood Cemetery ~ Warren, MN
