Doris Eleanor Wilebski, 85

Doris Eleanor Wilebski was born on August 7, 1925 in Soler Twp., rural Greenbush to the late Fred and Emma (Kovar) Kelly.  Doris received her First Holy Communion and was confirmed in the Catholic faith at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Leo.  She attended elementary school at a country school near Haug-Leo and later attended high school in Greenbush graduating in 1945.  Following graduation she worked various jobs in the area with Pauline Wilebski who introduced Doristo her brother John.  Doris and John were united in marriage on October 15, 1946 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic church in Greenbush and the two made their home in Greenbush.  Doris worked part time at the Greenbush-based turkey plant and later stayed home to raise her growing family. She worked at the Greenbush Municipal Liquor store for a number of years retiring in 1987.   John passed away in May of 1994 and Doris continued to make her home in Greenbush.
Doris remained very active in the community volunteering for numerous activities.  She served as a past president of the American Legion Auxiliary where she was a member for 56 years and was currently the Chaplain.  She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Greenbush where she taught Religious Education for 24 years.  She was a member of St. Ann’s Sodality and would volunteer leading the Rosary for the residents in LifeCare Greenbush Manor.  She was also a past Brownie troop leader and a member of the Garden Club in her younger years.  Doris passed away unexpectedly at her home on Wednesday, December 1, 2010 at the age of 85 years, 3 months, and 24 days.
Doris had many hobbies in her life including playing bingo, scrap booking, and gardening but what brought her the most joy was her faith and her love for her family.
Doris is survived by 2 daughters: Cheryl (Ralph) Kingsbury of Grafton, ND and Kathryn (David) Schafer of Strathcona.  2 sons: James (Kay) of Grafton and John Jr. (Sue) Wilebski of Strathcona.  14 grandchildren: Kelly, Kristen, John Kingsbury and Mary (Matt) Enquist,  Jacob (Kari) and Gabriel (Carrie) Rath, Anna (Chris) Owens, Timothy, Mary and Katerina Schafer, Kyle Wilebski, John, Benjiman, and Hannah Wilebski. 3 great grand children: Sam Rath, Catelyn Rath, and Benedict Owens, along with many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Cynthia Rath; 4 sisters: Margaret Schires, Helen Wint, Leona Slawson, and Edna Kelly (in infancy).  4 brothers: Wilfred, Arthur, Ernest and Howard Kelly.
Mass of Christain Burial wasl  held at 2:00PM, Saturday, December 4, 2010 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Greenbush with Fa. Luis Buitron officiating.  Jeanne Novacek was the organist and Doris’ grandchildren were Song Leaders.  Kelly Kingsbury was the soloist.  Readers for the Mass were John Kingsbury and Jacob Rath and Altar servers were John Wilebski III and Benjiman Wilebski.  Kathy and David Schafer were the Eucharistic Ministers and Gift Bearers were John and Sue Wilebski.  Honorary Bearers were St. Ann’s Sodality and Greenbush American Legion Auxilary members while Gabriel and Jacob Rath, Larry Slawson, Kyle Wilebski, John Kinsgbury, and Tim Schafer were active Casket Bearers.
Visitation was held after 6:00PM, Friday, at the church with a prayer service at 7:00PM and Rosary following.
Internment was held at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Cemetery following services.
Arrangements are with Collins Funeral Home of Greenbush.
