Sharon Yvonne Klegstad, the daughter of the late Orville and Thilda (Anderson) Hams, was born on May 9, 1943, at Karlstad, MN. She attended school and grew to womanhood at Karlstad and was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. On Oct. 15, 1950, Sharon was united in marriage to Norman Klegstad at St. Paul, MN. The couple made their home there for three years prior to returning to Karlstad where they have since resided. Sharon was employed at both the former Hanson’s Café and Englund Café in Karlstad, and at the former Arctic clothing plant in Karlstad. She cooked at the Karlstad Memorial Hospital and later, at the Karlstad Healthcare Center until health problems forced her retirement in 2006. She was a life-long member of First Lutheran Church of Karlstad. Sharon enjoyed playing cards and especially enjoyed time spent with her grandchildren, making Afghans for all of them. She passed away at Sanford Palliative Care Center in Fargo, ND., on Fri., Dec. 3, 2010, at the age of 67 years, 6 months and 24 days.
She is survived by her husband, Norman; two sons: Scott (Roxy) and Patrick (Kami), both of Karlstad; one daughter: Pam (fiance: Jim Gust, Jr.) Clow, of Badger, MN.; eight grandchildren: Justin, Ryan, Brooke, Karissa, Megan, Renee, Ethan and Sophia; one great-granddaughter: Addison; two brothers: Virgil (Gerda) Hams, of Karlstad and Dean (Gloria) Hams, of Thief River Falls, MN.; two sisters: Carol Carlson, of St. Paul and Ardell Phelan, of Chicago, IL.; in addition to many nieces, nephews cousins and other relatives.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters: June and Frances and two brothers: Mike and Lester.
