Edna M. Knutson, 86

Edna M. Knutson age 86 of Fisher, MN, passed away on Saturday, December 11, 2010 at the Sheyenne Crossings, West Fargo, ND after a bout with pneumonia.

         Edna Margaret (Koppang) Knutson was born on September 15, 1924 in rural Climax, MN the daughter of John and Tina (Hanson) Koppang.  She went to Elementary School in rural Climax, MN and High School in Climax, MN.  She graduated from Aakers Business College in Grand Forks, ND, and was a bookkeeper at Border Chevrolet in Grand Forks, ND.   Edna married O. Boyd Knutson on September 6, 1945 and moved to rural Fisher, MN where they farmed small grains and certified seed potatoes.  Edna was involved in many activities including Bygland Lutheran Church Ladies Aid and also taught Sunday School.  Edna always helped out with 4-H Club activities, Booster Club, chaperoning high school events for the girls and served as president, secretary & treasurer for the Ladies Aid.   She was a member of Bygland Lutheran Church, Euterpe Music Club, Sons of Norway, and the Fisher American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.  Edna loved music and singing; she played the piano by ear and played the French Horn in high school. 

Edna is survived by two daughters: Joy Knutson of Fargo, ND, and Mary Knutson of Moorhead, MN.  Four grandsons, Nick Prudhomme of Fargo, ND, Noah Prudhomme of Grand Forks, ND, Kiefer Prudhomme of Fisher, MN and Max Knutson of Moorhead, MN.  Edna was preceded in death by her parents, husband Boyd, sisters, Blanche Anderson and Lorraine Bruun and brother Talbert Koppang.

 

Funeral Service:  10:30 AM on Saturday, December 18, 2010 in Bygland Lutheran Church, rural East Grand Forks, MN

 

Visitation:  5:00 to 7:00 with a 6:30 PM Prayer Service on Friday, December 17, 2010 in Stennes Funeral Home of East Grand Forks, MN and also for an hour before Funeral Service on Saturday in Bygland Lutheran Church.

 

Interment:  Bygland Lutheran Cemetery in the spring of 2011
