Roman Thompson, 90

Roman Thompson, 90, of Strathcona, MN died on Tuesday morning, December 14 in LifeCare Medical Center at Roseau, MN.
Roman H. Thompson, the son of Oliver & Bertha (Svasvald) Thompson, was born November 29, 1920 at Benwood, MN.  He grew up and attended school there.  He served in the US Army during WW 2 where he operated heavy trucks in New Guinea.
Roman married Nadine Gaarde on December 14, 1949.  They lived in Strathcona and Roman drove bus for the Greenbush School for several years.  They then lived east of Strathcona where they farmed and raised cattle for many years.  Roman also worked road construction for Border States Paving out of Fargo for many years.
He was an active member of Gustav Adolph Church and of The Northland Threshing Bee and was a member of the Greenbush American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.  He enjoyed hunting, working in the woods, riding his ATV and just being outdoors.
Roman is survived by his wife of 61 years—Nadine.
Brother—Lloyd (Beverly) Thompson of Fargo.  Sisters-in-law—Elsie Thompson of Roseau and Jean Thompson of Arlington, Nebraska.  Nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 9 siblings and their spouses: Addie Thompson, Agnes (Bill) Engelhard,  Berdin Thompson,  Nora (Alex) Alexander,  Lyle Thompson,  Lorraine (Kenneth) Walters, Luverne (Adrian) Olson,  Verna (Russell) Draving & Wally Thompson and a sister-in-law—Gina Thompson.
Funeral Service was held on Saturday, December 18 at 11 AM in Gustav Adolph Lutheran Church of Strathcona with Pastor Curtis Matz, officiating.  Lindsey Borreson was the pianist.  Casket Bearers were Dan, Scott & Donald Thompson, Gary Olson, Bill Anderson, Jamie, Jason & Shayne Isane.  Military Honors were provided by the Moen-Zimek Post 88 American Legion of Greenbush.  Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery at Strathcona with Gieseke Funeral Chapel of Greenbush in charge of arrangements.
