John T. Boretski, age 84 of Baudette, MN passed away on January 11, 2011 at the LakeWood Health Center.
John was born on October 24, 1926 in Elma, Manitoba, Canada to Roman and Velina Boretski. After his schooling, he started his 42 ½ year career with Canadian National Railroad. He worked as a depot agent until his retirement in 1983.
He and Jean (Langstaff) were married on June 24, 1950 in Rainy River, Ontario. They moved to Baudette in 1949. They continued to live in the same house in Baudette ever since. In retirement, John enjoyed woodworking, making many projects, including a cradle for each of his grandchildren. He also enjoyed gardening and working on old clocks. He will be remembered as a faithful person. He was laid back, easy going, and always respected other people.
He is survived by his children, Dale Boretski of Baudette, Diane (John) Carroll of Baudette, Debbie (Jim) Conway of Colorado Springs, and John Boretski of Baudette; grandchildren, Michael (Stephanie) Boretski of Elizabethtown, KY, Stacy (Jeff) Torgerson of Baudette, David (Megan) Carroll of Calgary, Alberta, Jaime Conway of Colorado Springs and Jonathan Conway of New York, Jaime (Ned) LaValla of Baudette; great grandchildren, Evan and Ryan Torgerson, Olivia, Warren and Reggie Lemmons, Geno LaValla and Dominick Carroll; nephew, Gary Boretski and niece, Evelyn Hunter.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Jean in 2010 and brother, Anthony; and an infant sister.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, January 15th at 11 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Baudette. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at the Elm Park Cemetery in the spring.
