Christina Elizabeth Noga, 79

Christina Elizabeth Noga passed away on March 8, 2011.  The oldest child of Emmanuel and Myrtle Nelson, she was born on October 27, 1931 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.  Christina was the eldest of ten children.   She attended school in Bergland, Ontario which was taught by her Aunt Jessie.  She went back to school in her late 40’s and received a certificate of graduation while her daughter, Lillian was still in high school.  As the eldest of the family, she took on many responsibilities including raising her youngest sister when their mother passed away.
Christina was a housekeeper/waitress at Halvorson Resort in Ontario, Canada and it was there that she met her husband, Nick.  Nick and Christina were married on May 27, 1949.  They started their life together in Winnipeg, Manitoba.  They both accepted The Lord as their personal Savior.  Her husband, Nick, felt a calling from the Lord and attended Prairie Bible Institute in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan.  Christina became a pastor’s wife.   They started their family with the two oldest sons, Nickolas and Melvin while Nick attended seminary.   From Prince Albert the family moved to a Bible Camp in Fort Frances where they lived while Nick helped build the Covenant Church.   They moved to the parsonage when it was finished and their third son, David was born.  From Fort Frances, they moved to Barwick, Ontario for a time where the last two children, son Daniel and daughter Lillian were born.
They served at several churches in the area on both sides of the border between Ontario and Minnesota, finally settling at the Evangelical Free Church in Border, MN where they raised their five children; Christina’s youngest sister Geraldine; and Nick’s niece Jacqueline when their mothers died.   In addition to serving the church and raising their children, Christina worked various jobs during her life including the local bakery, Trinity Hospital and Rig Jig Tackle.  Nick retired as pastor in 1994 and they moved to 308 2nd Street NE in Baudette and lived until Nick’s death on May 16, 1995.  Christina continued to reside at the residence on her own until her daughter, Lillian, returned to Baudette.  Christina then lived with her daughter at 516 Tower Drive until she went to LakeWood Care Center in November 2007 where she lived until her death.
Christina enjoyed taking her young children to sit and watch the beavers.  She liked fishing, gardening, flowers and anything with the outdoors.  Nick and her would often fish during the fall of the year on the Rainy River after harvest and canning were done.  She was a great cook.  She cooked at the bible camps while her husband preached for many summers.  The days at the bible camp with her family were days she treasured.  She enjoyed singing solos and duets with her husband expressing their joy for the Lord.  She also enjoyed sing-a-longs at home with her husband and children as well as family vacations around Canada with the youngest children.  She liked to paint pictures, do word puzzles and reading books was a life-long love.  She taught her daughters and daughter-in-laws the art of making perogies and cabbage rolls.  Christina did a lot of sewing and made many quilts.  She knit and did embroidery as well.
Christina was preceded in death by her parents, infant twin siblings, husband, Nickolas, brother Clarence, and sisters Irene and Lorraine.
She is survived by brothers Leslie (Deanna) of Minitonas, Manitoba; Hilding (Lucy) of Edmonton, Alberta; Fred of Kenora, Ontario; and sister, Geraldine (Paul) of Edmonton, Alberta.  Sons, Nickolas (Laura) of Sanford, Florida; Melvin (Deborah) of Medina, New York; David (Jennifer) of Lake Moore, Illinois; Daniel (Denise) of Baudette; daughter Lillian (Joseph) Toka of Santa Rosa, California;  niece Jacqueline (Kenny) Marek of Osteen, Florida; grandchildren Amber (Kenny) Carter; Kaylee (Luis) Ventura;  Nickolas (Crystal) Noga; and Natasha Noga;  Joseph (Tifanie) Noga;  Christina (Adam) Palmer;  Andrew Noga; Thomas, James, Marcus and Lisa Noga; Kadon Noga; Nickolas (Susan) Toka; Katie (Brian Tessitore) Toka;  Jason and Rachel (Bolter);  Johanna, Joshua, Jeremiah and Jenica (Steinbach).  Great grandchildren Ki Ventura; Aiden Noga; Jacob and Joshua Palmer; Joseph Noga; Alice Toka, as well as many other nieces and nephews, brother and sister-in-laws and other extended family.
